Ronnie Scott's Rejects

Ronnie Scott's Rejects are available as a 4, 5 or 6 piece band.

Band members include female vocals, male vocals, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, bass, drums and keyboards.

The band's jazz, swing and Latin repertoire explores the great show tunes of the 30's and 40's made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Peggy Lee, Louis Jordan and Louis Prima. The danceable party repertoire spans from 60s Motown hits through to current day pop heroes such as Beyonce, Amy Winehouse, Estelle, Kings of Leon and The Killers.

Fronted by the sassy singer Hazel Holder, Ronnie Scott's Rejects are the perfect band to mix a bit of old school' swing' with current day 'bling'. Hazel's raspy vocals on Etta James' classic 'I Just Wana Make Love to You' is performed alongside guitar based anthems such as Sex On Fire and Mr Brightside. Breathtaking to watch yet maintaining a full dancefloor is their secret to a successful party.

This band cover all bases: they look amazing, sound fantastic and play something for all ages!

History

Formed in 1989 when they started performing outside the Reject China Shop in Canterbury, the band took themselves off to London for a night out with their hard earned profits from busking. On arrival at the famous 'Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club' in Soho, the band where refused admission on account of their youthful yet under-age looks. Hence, the birth of Ronnie Scott's Rejects!

The Band had the pleasure of meeting Ronnie Scott before his death in 1996. After apologies from the humble music students for using the name of such a prestigious international jazz venue, the modern jazz saxophonist took the time to write the band a letter:

"I don't know who told you that I was upset about the name of your band. I think it is an excellent name but I must insist on ten percent of your earnings over £1.5 million per annum.

Best wishes,

Ronnie Scott"
